you'll forever be our first-born love

:: two months old ::

We’ve just returned from our trip to America and you’re over two months old now. It’s so hard to believe that two months have already gone by since your birthday. People always say to enjoy your children because they grow up so fast. Well my dear son, you are growing up fast… And we’re enjoying you so much.

Our time in America was so much fun – the adventures of mommy and Levi. Everyone loved meeting you and cuddling you and holding you. We received lots of prayer and blessing and gifts – you’re just so wanted in the world precious boy. I hope you always will know that.

Some of the sweetest moments on our trip were meeting your Uncle Andy, being introduced and prayed for by Westside Church (in all three services!), and meeting your great-grandparents – both the McIntosh side and the Blackwell side. They are all so in love with you too.

It was hard for Daddy to not be with us. He missed you so much, but he was also glad that you and I were able to go. We saw and chatted with him on Skype as much as possible and you and I talked about him every day.

Even though it was hard to be away from Daddy, you and I had a very special time. It was an adventure for sure. Mommy had lots of challenges, but together we not only got through them, but we had a great time and made lots of memories. Oh little one, you’re such a good boy.

But yes, you’re over two months old now. Already you are smiling and “talking” and sometimes even squawking angrily. (Your mad squawks are so hilarious and cute!) You have developed different cries to communicate different things and you have no problem “speaking your mind” when you are happy, upset, grumpy, or want something! We love it. It’s so much fun to see your personality begin to emerge.

You’ve become much more responsive to play – our faces and songs and touch. It’s really wonderful. Your change table is still your absolute favourite place. Above it we have a mobile that has little insects hanging from it – a brightly coloured bumble bee, butterfly, dragon fly, and spider, as well as a flower with little polka dots in the centre. I call them your “garden friends” and it’s clear that you loooove them. When you are cranky we can go and put you on the change table and your face immediately turns from the “scrunchie face” to a big grin (and you often burst into immediate talking and laughing as well). You adore your garden friends – it’s so cute.

Daddy and I continue to learn how to best care for you. We’re learning more and more to trust our intuition and lean into God to know how to parent you well. We just love you so much and can’t believe you’re ours. You bring such unbelievable joy to our lives.

You’ll forever be our first born love.

love momma xx
